Construction Lien
A “construction lien,” also known as a mechanic’s lien or builder’s lien, is a legal claim that a contractor, subcontractor, supplier, or other party who provides labor, materials, or services to a construction project can place on the property if they are not paid for their work. The lien gives the claimant a security interest in the property, which can be used to recover the unpaid amount by forcing a sale of the property if necessary.
