Honorarium

An honorarium is a payment given to someone for services or work that is not considered a regular job or is voluntary in nature. It is usually a nominal fee given as a token of appreciation, respect, or recognition for the individual’s contributions, expertise, or time spent on a particular task or project. Honorariums are commonly offered to guest speakers, volunteers, artists, or experts who provide their services on a limited or occasional basis, and the amount is usually symbolic rather than substantial. They are often seen in fields such as academia, non-profit organizations, or the arts, where individuals contribute their knowledge or skills for a specific event or purpose. Unlike regular salaries or wages, honorariums are typically not subject to taxes or other employment-related deductions.
