Joint Tenants
Joint tenants refer to a form of property co-ownership where two or more individuals hold equal shares of the property with the right of survivorship. This means that upon the death of one joint tenant, their share automatically passes to the surviving joint tenant(s) without the need for probate. Joint tenancy requires four unities: unity of time, title, interest, and possession, meaning all co-owners acquire their interest at the same time, through the same document, with equal shares, and with equal rights to possess the entire property.
