Post hoc, ergo propter hoc

“Post hoc, ergo propter hoc” is a Latin phrase which means “after this, therefore because of this.” This refers to a logical fallacy that occurs when someone assumes that because one event occurred after another, the first event must have caused the second. In other words, just because one event follows another chronologically, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the first event caused the second. This fallacy overlooks other possible explanations and correlations, leading to faulty reasoning.
