Block Number
A “block number” refers to a numerical identifier assigned to a specific block within a larger grid of a city, town, or subdivision. The block number is used in legal descriptions and property records to help identify the precise location of a piece of land or property within a specific block.
When a large area of land is subdivided for development, the land is typically divided into blocks, each of which is assigned a unique block number. Within each block, there are further subdivisions into lots, which are also numbered. The combination of a block number and a lot number provides a precise legal description of a property’s location.
